About 5ailands09

5ailands09 is the inaugural conference of the Sai Youth of Zone 3 comprising Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Phillipines, Sri Lanka. It will be held at the New Zealand Pacific Training Centre, Nadi, Fiji from 9-12 October 2009.

The seeds of the conference were planted during the World Youth Conference in July 2007 and blossomed into a deeply felt need to:

1. Be Swami's messengers and aspire towards being ideal Sai youth. In doing so, we want to foster a better understanding of and live our lives based on His teachings.
2. Unite and work as a family. Our five countries are akin to the fingers of the hand, coming together to work in unity to achieve a common purpose, mergence in our own Divinity. We would like to explore opportunities to cooperate and help each other grow in Swami's work.
3. Celebrate the diversity of our Zone. Zone 3 transcends Asia, Australasia and Melanesia. Swami's teachings are expressed in so many ways in the richness of our cultures and circumstances. Our Zone presents diverse ways to apply Swami's teachings and we relish the opportunity to share our experiences and learn from each other.

Conference Theme: "5ailands09: Oceans apart, united in Sai"
The five member organisations of Zone 3 are island nations, of varying sizes and populations, from the Indian to the Pacific Oceans. Although we are geographically separate, culturally diverse, and speak differing languages, we are united in our desire to live in Sai's love.
Thus, we are islands embedded in and arising from the ocean of Sai's Divine Love.
Merging the two concepts, we are Sai islands. Sailands. So the five Sailands are indeed, 5ailands.
